Scott and Taylor were so amazing on their wedding day in February! They celebrated their intimate nuptials with close family and friends at Thompson Barn. It was a super chilly day, but their sweet love brought warmth to everyone there. They just make love look so easy and natural! Big thanks to Scott and Taylor for asking me to capture your special day!
When Jeff contacted me to photograph a couples session for his girlfriend, my first thought was, "Is there special reason he wants me to make the trip from Kansas to Colorado?". I didn't want just outright ask if he going to propose! After a few times of chatting back and forth, he totally let it slip - "....do NOT tell anyone...but I am going to propose". My exact response was "OH MY GOD! YESSSSSSS!" To have the opportunity to capture Jeff, my brothers best childhood friend, ask his lady to spend the rest of their lives together was such an honor! I might have shed a few tears and was just as nervous as he was - but it was perfect! Not only did Jeff plan the surprise proposal at Red Rocks, but he also made appointments for her to get her hair and makeup done! Ladies..I know...This totally sweet and romantic guy is now taken by his forever lady! So many congrats to these two! Cannot wait to see you all in April at the Thompson wedding!
Get out your tissues.....
"Babe, I love you. You're my best friend. I really mean it when I say that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" - Jeff
This glam winter wedding was everything you imagined and more! Matt, Kacie, their wedding party, family, and friends gathered on a windy evening to celebrate the coming together of these two beautiful souls! It may not have been Hawaii (where Matt and Kacie currently reside), but everything was absolute perfect at their romantic Eighteen Ninety nuptials! What I loved the most about capturing this wedding was how genuinely happy everyone was throughout the entire day. Everyone was there to make the day one to remember!
"After both of us graduated from different colleges (Matt from the United States Military Academy in NY and Kacie from Furman University in SC), we commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the Army. We first met at the Aviation Army Basic Officers course at Fort Rucker, Alabama in the summer of 2014. We started just as friends. We went through survival school and flight school together too. Then, as we were both learning to fly helicopters for the Army, our friendship blossomed into more!"
"What I love most about Kacie is that she has the ability to light up the room with both her beauty and her ever-present cheerfulness; she's the perfect fit to my otherwise average looks and quiet demeanor. Kacie's fitness fanaticism has had a positive effect on my health as well; the downside (for her) of which is that she has to spend more time with me in our old age." - Matt
"I think Kacie was upset when I saw her for the first time on our wedding day because I didn't show a significant enough reaction. I always tell Kacie that she is beautiful enough to be a model. The truth is that when I saw her in her wedding dress, I didn't know how to react because I didn't conceive that she could be even more beautiful. She was though." - Matt
Swoon!!!!! Matt, you do have a super gorgeous wife!
When asked what their favorite part of their wedding day was, they said....
"That's so hard! It was such a perfect day. But walking down the aisle and seeing all our friends and family, people we hadn't seen in years, or people who flew in from other continents to celebrate with us, was so amazing and humbling."
"I love how hard he works and the effort he puts into everything he does, whether it be something in school, for work or especially in our relationship, doing everything he can to make me happy. He also always makes me laugh; we have so much fun with each other!" - Kacie
Matt and Kacie said that the best advice they received before getting married was...
"Getting into arguments isn't always bad. Sometimes it's better to talk it over and get it out, never hold it in and don't go to bed angry!"

We may be swiftly approaching the end of 2016, but before we do, I want to share one last blog post of perhaps the most epic and fun filled family session this year! If you know the Schmidlings and the Vardimans, you know that they are super sweet and hilariously funny. From "smizing" and thinking about tacos, to a little friendly competition between cousins, this session fell nothing short of amazing! The best part....It was a total surprise as a Christmas present for Grandpa and Grandma! Maura sent me the video of Grandma and Grandpa opening their images and it only confirmed why I love my job so much! Big thanks to this rowdy crew for making the last family session of 2016 a memorable one!
"Smizing"..."tacos"..."opening our eyes"..."sad face/grumpy cat"...just the usual shenanigans with this crew! I swear, Anne's face is my favorite!
Many thanks to the Schwinn family for letting us use your gorgeous barn and other fun country backdrops for this family session! So happy the rain held off, but the photos were just perfect with all the country feels at the farm!
I had the pleasure of photographing Meredith's senior session earlier this fall and was really excited when Christy asked me to photograph the entire family over Thanksgiving break! We decided that their gorgeous backyard would be the perfect place to capture the fall colors and sunset! Thankfully, the boys carried down all of the chairs and other props to help make this session really fun! I fell in love with almost everything in the McKnight's home, so they had a few things to load up! The ladies were absolutely stunning and everyone ventured into some of the the brush to make some really cool backdrops with golden hour filled bokeh! Many thanks to the McKnights for being so easy to work with and letting me capture your awesome family!
